“I’ve never seen the Shining. Is it really Scary?”

As a lot of you probably know, almost all of my favorite movies are in from the 80’s, so this movie gets some bias points as well, and is probably my favorite Spielberg film since Jurassic Park. (Not that his new movies are bad or anything, but I’m not a huge fan of drama films, and this movie really captured the essence of his 80’s/90’s adventure films.)
Right off the bat I’m going to admit I have not read the book yet, getting to it but haven’t started. I’ve been told this movie varies very differently from the novel, but I don’t think that should take away from the viewing experience. Do you know what other Spielberg movie is very different from the book that I still love both of? Jurassic Park, and it’s still my favorite movie of all time.
Spielberg blasts us with 80’s nostalgia, showing off countless Easter eggs and characters all mashed together into one awesome movie. I also really enjoyed that they touched on even though Video Games can be awesome and fun, but they’ve got nothing on the real world.
Ready Player One earned a bunch of bonus points because of all the references for me, and the 80’s Spielberg style of storytelling has it land at an 8.5/10.
